We just can’t get enough of the 2008 Challenger around here

Published by drew under cars, muscle cars

Nice article over at Winding Road about our current favorite car around here, the 2008 Challenger SRT-8.

An axiom from the world of industrial design goes like this: If something looks right, it probably is. Examples are legion, from the classic Eames chair to Raymond Loewy’s Coke bottle. This saying also rings true in the world of cars. There was nothing right about the exterior design of the Pontiac Aztek. In contrast, from any angle the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 looks right. Very right.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, even better than perfect?

Published by drew under personal tech, tech

Being addicted to technology is hard; something better is always around the corner. Not even two weeks ago I was writing about the soon-to-be-released Garmin nuviphone and it has already been knocked off of my radar by the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 due mid-2008. I still think that the nuviphone is a compelling product and will find a decent market as it just makes sense to combine Garmin’s great nuvi GPS navigation system with a cell phone. The game changer there is adding internet capabilities to the GPS device which greatly enhances it’s capabilities.

Challenger in motion, video from autoblog.com

The still pics had me, but this video just puts it over the top for me. Check out this video of the Challenger playing in the desert from autoblog.com. I’m completely in love with the look and sound of the Challenger in motion.

Retro Arcade Heaven

Published by drew under arcade, culture, gaming, geek, retro

Wow! When will I have the time and money to have a playroom like this?!?!? I’m feeling extremely nostalgic right now. Forget a M.A.M.E. cabinet… I want something like THIS!

Peter Hirschberg has just finished his stunning retro-gaming heaven, a Valhalla for the best arcade video games ever. His Luna City Arcade has 57 fully-restored arcade classics, which span from Asteroids to Zaxxon, plus a whole load of pinballs. Amazingly enough, he does all this on his own dime, for the love of it. It’s open to the public now, and the best thing: entrance and quarters are completely free. Check the video, huge gallery and the interview with Peter after the jump.

Super Bowl XLII, favorite commercials

Published by drew under culture, funny, sports

Well, congrats to the N.Y. Giants on winning the Super Bowl this year. What a good game, it started out kind of slow, but the last half was great. I was kind of hoping that the Patriots would pull off a perfect season, but I’ve been a Giants fan since I was little as I grew up near NYC in Connecticut. Either team could have won that game and I would have been happy.

The commercials are always a fun part of the Super Bowl, my favorite this year had to be the E*Trade spot with the baby and clown.

You know, me and the boys were talkin’ about what to do with all this extra coin, and I was like, I’m rentin’ a clown. Heh-heh, and I did, Bobo here and uhh… I really underestimated the creepiness

Now that my friends, is just brilliantly funny… :D

There were a bunch of other great ads, some of my other favorites can be found after the jump.
